The Golden Ratio and your Face

For those of you that tuned out during maths class for most of your life, it is time for a refresher. I’m sure that you always moaned and complained that you would never use any of that boring stuff anyway. Well, you’re wrong. Today, you are going to learn about one little ratio that you will be thankful for.

The Golden Ratio, also known as the Greek letter phi φ, is approximately equal to 1.618. In essence, it is the longer part divided by the shorter part. It can also be calculated by dividing the whole length by the longer part. It is also claimed to be the most ….. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz…..Who cares? Right?

The reason that this ratio is so famous is that it is heralded as being the most attractive to the eye. It has been used in the arts and architecture for years. You can analyse sculptures, paintings, photos and people percieved as beautiful and they all generally have one thing in common… their face maintains the golden ratio.

It is true that beauty is in the eye of the beholder and just because your face doesn’t fit so neatly into the golden ratio does not mean that you aren’t gorgeous. The golden ratio becomes a little bit more important if you are thinking about receiving some anti-wrinkle injections or dermal fillers. These types of treatments can alter the shape of your face and steer you away from a more classically attractive face.

What does this mean in terms of receiving dermal fillers and anti-wrinkle injections? There are simply a few areas that you need to take special note of when seeking treatment.

For example, many people seek dermal fillers because they want to have big, luscious lips like Angelina Jolie. What they forget to take note of is that filling your lips too much, disturbs the balance between your mouth, nose and pupils. You may walk away having big lips, but it will make you look far less attractive.

If you are thinking about receiving some treatments, follow some of these tips to ensure that you are happy with your results:

  • Head to this website to learn more about all of the different areas on your face and the golden ratio.
  • Have a good, long look in the mirror and try to notice if anything looks out of proportion.
  • When you go in for treatment, have a look at your injectors face. Does it look like they have kept their own face in proportion? If they haven’t done that for themselves, what is the likelihood that they will do it for you?
  • Be wary of injectors that don’t look at your whole face. If you say that you want bigger lips and they just nod their head, run away. A good practitioner will look at your whole face and formulate a plan to keep everything in balance.

Love your face.
